Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) more popularly known as her stage name Ari Lennox is an American artist and singer hailing who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. On October 21, 2016 she dropped Pho, her debut EP on the label Dreamville Records. This was when she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted songs online in the year 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. Ari Lennox continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. In July of 2015, she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat it Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to create Rihanna references. Her announcement to sign with Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. She made an appearance on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed on her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening artist. In 2018, she went on to be a guest on two of her songs along with label-mates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The first single, Whipped Cream, from the album was released on September 5, 2018 with an accompanying music video. On the 9th November the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two singles more were released by her on 11/13 with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby is a track that she recorded with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. It was released with an accompanying music video that debuted in February 20th, 2019 that surpassed three million views on YouTube within one week. She was part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
